What does the CRSP US Large Cap Value Index track?
Roughly 340 large US companies that look cheap compared to their earnings, book value and dividends — the unglamorous half of the market: banks, healthcare, energy, industrials.
This is the classic "value" factor: buying dollar bills for ninety cents and waiting patiently. It won't excite anyone at a dinner party, and that is sort of the point.
